Montol Festival

Montol 2007 was funded by the following groups

The Montol Group will continue working with these important community projects beyond our period of funding in the hope of developing lasting community benefit for all and delivering our shared goals of regeneration, improved community services, lower crime and better health. With special thanks to Becky Trehair and Interlink.

The partnership has been formed following the Governments decision to allocate £1.6 million over a period of four years to tackle some of the issues on the Treneere estate in Penzance.

Treneere, which comprises of approximately 600 homes, has been identified as one of the most deprived estates in the country. It is the job of the Neighbourhood Management team, based at the Treneere Together offices at the heart of the estate, to work with residents and service providers i.e. Police and Council to improve the quality of life and services provided. The Montol group are especially pleased to be able to work with Treneere team spirit and the residents of the Treneere estate who were so supportive of our efforts in 2007.

The Penzance Central Initiative (PCI) is the name given to the resident group improving the quality of life, with the help of funding from NRF, of the St Clare Super Output Area (SOA) community. The group was informally set up in November 2006. Working with statutory and community groups like the Montol Group, PCI is set up to facilitate community development, regeneration and increased social inclusion in the Penzance Central area of Penzance.

The health promotion service works with individuals or organisations who work for the population of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly in the promotion of health and well being.

Penzance Town Council is Penzance's parish council.

Penwith District Council is one of the principal authorities in the Penzance area. IN 2007 PDC provided the Montol group with a small grant of £500 to develop the festival, Penwith also own wiith Penzance Town Council the Lescudjack hillfort site which forms one of the centres of our celebrations during the Montol festival.
